I almost lost my studentship (Concluding part)

……………………. After the event of disrupting the ongoing class, I left the class and called my HOD to explain what had happened to him (That was one of the mistake I made, I shouldn't have reported myself to him, but I did).

Later that day, I communicated to my colleagues via our WhatsApp forum instructing them not to show up in school until the following year and that we are using extra one week as holiday at home. Little did I know that we are only doing ourselves and not the lecturers. I told my colleagues to pass the info of not coming to school along to everyone they can get the information to, because some people are not on the WhatsApp group due to one reason or the other.

The holiday went by in a speedy manner and time to resume is here.we are meant to resume on the first Tuesday of January the following year, but I had told the members of my class not to show up until the following Monday. I believed everyone in the class got the information of not coming to school until the following Monday and I just relax on it at that.

Unfortunately, the president of my department isn't aware of the information, no one even thought of it that he wasn't on the forum and that he didn't get the information. Even his closest accomplice were unable to tell him about the situation of things. He wasn't in school when the incident of disrupting the class occur so he didn't know much about what was on ground.

So the guy eventually went to school on the resumption date (Tuesday) without calling any member of the class and the lecturer class was suppose to hold first on Tuesdays morning, unfortunately, as the guy was able leaving the class to go and get call card to call me up to inquire why were not in school, he met the lecturer at the entrance and there was no way he could dodge her.

The lecturer ask the guy to return to class and inquire about the whereabout of everyone, the guy replied that he hasn't seen anyone since he arrived in school that morning and that he was going to get call card to call the HOC to know what is going on. The woman explained what had happened the previous class to him and asked him to sit down in the class and they had the lecture for that day (just the guy and the lecturer). The attendance for that class was taken.

After the lecture, the lecturer wrote a petition against me and forward to the department for further investigation. That day I receive a call from a lecturer who happens to be my personal person inquiring about the incident and I explained everything to him. The lecturer asked me to show up in school the following day but the stubborn part of me tell me to wait till Monday as I have told my followers not to show up in school until the following Monday so I shouldn't be the one to make the rule and still be the one to break it.
I called the lecturer back and told him that I'm out of town and wont be back until Sunday.

Here comes Monday, on getting to school, I was summoned by the HOD of the department to give a report of the incident. I was asked to put everything into writing.
I refused to make the report and this made the matter worsen. I just keep doing the normal things I do in class. The following day which was Tuesday and the lecture time for the lecturer. On getting to class, she sent me out of the class. At this point I was scared a bit as I have never been sent out class for any reason whatsoever, but I got sent out for the first time. I acted normal and after the class, some of my course mates and I went to see our course adviser on what to do.

When we got there, the course adviser said the matter has reached the school disciplinary committee and I have to face disciplinary action for what I have done. He then told us, that no one ever face the school disciplinary committee without getting either suspension for a semester or probably get rusticated.
Chai, I was confused and don't even know what to do. I was told to come the following day to face the departmental disciplinary committee and from the department, if I'm found guilty, the matter will further proceed to the faculty level and then to the school disciplinary committee.

I was restless all through the day and the night. I don't know what to do, so I went back to our course adviser and he told me to go with my colleagues to go and plead with the woman to withdraw the petition as that is the only thing that can save the situation from getting worse. At this point, there was nothing left to be done than to go back and beg the woman.

My colleagues (GOD BLESS THEM ALL), they all stood by me and we all went back and beg the woman to withdraw the petition. She was hesitant at first but later agreed to withdraw it. She withdrew the petition the following day. But I was still made to face the department disciplinary committee and I was interrogated along with some of my colleagues who happens to witness the disruption. Meanwhile, after pleading with the woman she has told those that are to stand as witness what they are meant to say during the interrogation.

At the interrogation, we all said what is needed to be said. The case was dismissed two days later and I return to class the following Monday.

This isn't just a story, its something that change my notion of using force all the time to win things, there are so many other things that I could have done then to justify myself rather than disrupting the class and besides, I failed to realize the power of pen.
What I should have done then was to write to the department a petition against the lecturer stating that she is having lecture out of the school scheduled time for her lecture and that some of my students had left when she was unable to show up for the lecture at the agreed time, and for this reason, any lecture held for that day is void and the lecture should be redelivered when everyone is around.

I really learnt a great deal of lesson from this experience and I would like my prospective readers who are leaders in one position or the other to know the that pen is mightier than sword and you can win a lot by just putting things into writing.
Thank you
